If you're going to make an investment in training your personnel, it is important that the instructor both understand the material be able to present the material in an interesting, easy to understand manner. I'm Rob Fish, the creator of the Customized Basic Hydraulics course, and this is a brief overview of my background and expertise. I began designing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems in 1977 as a sales engineer for a leading fluid power distributor in central Ohio. I earned my Fluid Power Specialist certification in 1982. The Fluid Power Specialist certification program was developed by the Fluid Power Society to assure a level of competency among members of the fluid power profession. In 1985, I began teaching an in-house "Basic Hydraulics" course for our sales and maintenance personnel. At about that same time I started conducting basic hydraulic seminars for various central Ohio companies. I've designed hundreds of fluid power systems for all types of applications, and spent many hours "in the field," troubleshooting hydraulic systems. In 1993, "Hydraulics & Pneumatics" magazine published a story about one of the systems I designed - a hydraulic system to raise and lower a 300 foot wide by 10 foot tall, "wall of glass" at a race track in Columbus, Ohio. When the weather is nice, they raise the wall of glass. If it is too hot or too cold, they lower the glass and patrons enjoy the racing in climate controlled comfort.
In 1995, I began teaching a 10-week long "Basic Hydraulics" course for Eastland Vocational School's adult education department. The course was designed to help machine operators and maintenance personnel operate, adjust and troubleshoot their hydraulic systems. The information taught in this one-day long "Basic Hydraulics" class is based on my 20+ years of experience in the fluid power industry and my experience teaching basic hydraulics to a wide range of individuals. In 1998, I successfully completed a National Seminars Group "Training the Trainer" course, and have attended numerous seminars designed to improve my presentation skills. We cover a lot of material in the "Basic Hydraulics" class, and I work very hard to insure it is presented in an interesting, easy to understand manner. I look forward to working with you on your Customized Basic Hydraulics course. Please call me at 614-889-5222 so we can discuss your system and your requirements for a course.
